The Cat and the Moon was established by jewellery designer Martina Hamilton in 1989. The shop is named after an evocative 1924 play and poem by W. B. Yeats whose great works are synonymous with the Sligo region of Ireland.

Originally the shop was a showcase outlet for Martina's own multi-award winning jewellery brands; Spirit of Ireland, Martina Hamilton and The Cat and the Moon, collections that are available through this site, but it quickly became one of the country's leading retailers of bespoke Irish craft.

For over 25 years The Cat and the Moon and Martina have championed individual small enterprise designers and craft makers of Ireland, like herself. In so doing The Cat and the Moon has earned a reputation as one of Ireland's most distinctive and unique retail outlets.
