Ireland's leading Magician & Escape Artist
"As seen on tv"
Booking">Steve Spade who is a magician that does “MAGIC WITH ATTITUDE” was born and raised in Limerick, Ireland. In a few short years he has established himself as a firm favorite as a close-up performer within the Irish Celebrity circuit, he combines top-drawer sleight of hand skills with psychological subtleties and great comic timing, whilst his dangerous stunts, such as escaping from a sealed box, have garnered national headlines such as “Ireland’s answer to Houdini” (Irish Times).

Steve first became interested in magic at an early age, watching his uncle perform, but really got hooked when he had watched the “David Blaine’s” TV Specials. He quickly developed a solid repertoire of card and coin skills, performing at every opportunity on the streets & in the pubs & clubs in his native Limerick. He also worked the kids’ party circuit, honing his performing skills in front of the toughest audience of them all.

David Blaine was an early inspiration; but Steve is more influenced by the greats of an earlier era, including Harry Houdini. Steve’s Houdini Tribute show, “Beyond Magic”, packed the City Limits Comedy Club, Cork, in the summer of 2011. Following the success of the show, Steve decided to do a stunt in the River Shannon that Houdini would have been proud of. He was chained up inside a sealed wooden crate, and dropped into the water in front of nearly 2,000 people. Needless to say, he escaped safely, and went on to do a nationwide tour his show, “Thirteen”, which combined magic with mentalism and escapes. Steve is currently developing a new show, “The Devil’s Cabaret”, which will combine magic, comedy and burlesque, he is also plotting his next death-defying series of stunts for summer 2012.

Steve was invited to appear on RTE 1’s “The Daily Show” Christmas Special, where he wowed special guests Danial O’Donnell & Former Irish Boxer Bernard Dunne. That appearance led to a regular series of slots on the show throughout January and February 2012, where Steve appeared alongside Impressionist Oliver Callen, English Actress Linda Bellingham, and Fair City’s Sorcha Furlong. Steve has also appear on TV3’s “Come Dine With Me”

Steve’s intimate miracle of close-up magic is at the heart of everything he does & he has wowed many celebrities Including Rhianna, Metallica’s James Hetfield, Mgmt, Florence & The Machine, Calvin Harris, Example, The Coronas, Bressie, Kevin Spacey, Glen Hansard, DJ Ahmed, Aslan, Royseven, Keywest, Ham Sandwich, Former Playboy Bunny & Irish Model Louise Kavanagh, Irish Model/BB Housemate Georgia Salpa, Derren Brown, Keith Barry, Jedward & Irish Rugby Star Paul O Connell to name but a few.

As Steve performs at many different events & after-show parties throughout Ireland some of his biggest events have included performing an illusion at the Electric Picnic to over 10,000 people, with comedy superstars “The RubberBandits”, The Jameson Irish Film Festival, where Actor “Kevin Spacey” was bowled over when he saw Steve performing finally asking in bewilderment: “Can I have my watch back?” Luckily Steve only picks pockets for entertainment! and a spooky performance in a Limerick graveyard with Academy Award winner “Glen Hansard” who was stunned and slightly terrified.

As a result of his success Steve has also became a favourite of local Limerick band “Better than You”, who were so impressed by him they wrote the theme song for his Youtube channel entitled “Spade”.

Although his magic was his first love, but because of his impish sense of humour, and his fearlessness in front of an audience, which marked him out, he has also moved quickly onto the comedy circuit and has shared the stage with Pat Shortt, Tommey Tiernan, Jason Byrne, Pj Gallagher, Colin Murphy, David Mc Savage, Neil Delmere & Des Bishop.

You could say success has come for Steve in Spades.
