Having worked in pharmacy in Ireland and travelled around the world, Ade Stack always wanted to be her own boss. Her model was to keep the friendliness and sense of community what was great about Irish pharmacy but combine it with the best of the rest of the world’s innovation.
Having grown up in North Dublin, Ade didn’t go far for her first pharmacy to Skerries in 2000. Her father Tim, had been involved in community development in Darndale so when they were looking for a pharmacist to open a pharmacy less than a year later along came her second pharmacy.
As a company we have usually stayed close to our roots in Dublin with the latest branch in Limerick a dedication to her parents who are both from Limerick area. We now provide through 15 pharmacies which are each unique but share common values.
“My mother was a nurse who went back to work as we grew up. As a pharmacist she was always asking me, "is there a better way to manage the medication”? As I went through college and travelled, her questions were always at the back of my mind.
From this, a dedication to medication management became a particular interest and we now lead the field in Ireland with regard to practical ways to manage medication.
Today as much as in 2000, we stay close to our roots through being involved in the community- spot prizes, jerseys, sponsorship, work experience, helping long term unemployed get back to work.
Our motto is do poitigéir cairdiúil – your friendly pharmacy and we want that we are always there for advice and support and guidance for every question no matter how big or small.
We are very much a family business along with all the dedicated staff who work in their community pharmacies day by day. Bernie in Skerries, the first person that she ever employed nearly 15 years ago is still there to this day.
All relationships should be for life.
