Skerries Bowling Club (SBC) was founded in1983, Initially the game was played as "Short Mat" Bowls, and they were provided with facilities in the local Community Center.
In 1993 the club began negotiating with the then Dublin County Council, who generously provided us with outdoor facilities and financial assistance to have the outdoor rink properly laid and the area railed off. The site granted which was provided is in the very middle of the town, and is situated at the back of Super Valu supermarket.

In 2005, the committee decided that it was time to renew the playing surface, and after much discussion, it also decided to build a new
clubhouse at a total cost of €205k. With grants from Fingal County Council, the club needed to arrange a ten year loan from its Bank, and as of the time of writing that term loan has been repaid, and the club can look forward to the future, in the knowledge that when further improvements are required finance should not be a problem.

The club caters for both men and women, and in the past few years they have nurtured a 'Junior' group. The Men currently play in Div.2, and the Ladies competes in Div 1.

Finally, the new clubhouse was designed to accommodate indoors bowls, which is played on Wednesdays evenings.

The club will welcome all comers. Those interested should come to to club any morning, where they will be made most welcome and shown the basics of what is a very skillful ,and at times frustrating game, but then what sport is not so.
