SceneMaker was formed to answer a need in the performing arts industry.

Amateur musical societies, stage schools and secondary schools are faced with the task of sourcing a set for their annual or bi annual productions.

Most groups build their own set from scratch and usually engage a few handy parents to complete the task. Others offer the work to professional set builders.

A good many secondary schools build in-house if they have a woodwork shop and an art department. The result is that these groups end up with sets that they store in the belief that they have an intrinsic value which can be realized by selling the set on to neighboring groups.

In reality this rarely happens and most groups end up with garages and sheds full of old scenery that ultimately is thrown out or burned. The people in SceneMaker have been involved in the performing arts for up to 35 years and have come together to offer a proper set rental service. Our customer base covers the 32 counties.

All our sets are designed to be transportable and assembled in 3 to 4 hours. The service includes delivery and assembly and final strike. We look after the set, leaving the groups more time to focus on the performance. In the past 2 years we have also been building a catalogue of backcloths which can be hired as part of a set or separately.

All our scenery is stored in a modern dry warehouse and is available for inspection at any time. For more information please contact Bobby White at bobby@scenemaker.ie or 086 814 5868
