Greetings lovely people...

Ballina and Killaloe has a strong history of drama, not least because of the number of interested people in the area. It seemed fitting at this time that the community should enjoy the benefits of having a recognised independent drama group. And so this January, Quay Players was formally formed as a community Dramatic Society. We hope to promote, facilitate and encourage the dramatic arts in Ballina and Killaloe and beyond.
An article on the inception of Quay Players Dramatics Society and the history of drama in its early days in Ballina and Killaloe is to follow. We can learn of the blood, sweat and tears, the intent and wishes of the group and its creators and how it came to fruition.

We already have a good cohort of members, many of them familiar faces of the past who have worked tirelessly to bring drama to the community over the past number of years.

We also have members, newbies to the stage and some who are interested in stage management, costumes etc.

So we would like to spread the word out there yonder, past Moylussa and Tountinna, and to the widest and narrowest expanses of the Shannon and its hinterland. Members, young and old and "inbetweeners" are welcome to come and join us in our quest of theatrical fun and frolics.. and serious drama of course..

Having said that, we are an "amateur" group, so no experience necessary. Undoubtedly we would gladly welcome anyone with experience too..

The hope is to provide an opportunity for directors, actors, musicians, producers. lighting, sound technicians, prop masters and anyone with an interest in theatre and performance to get involved locally and to have some fun too!
Ballina, Killaloe and the surrounding towns and parishes are full of talented people, and we hope to engage all this greatness into good drama.

As a new Society/club it is our intent to fund such things for our members like workshops and to cover costs such as rehearsal space and production costs.

With this in mind the committee have come up with a nominal fee of 25 euro per individual membership. People are more more than welcome to come and try out some drama before joining. We don’t want to scare anyone away!
