The fish industry has long been an important industry in the development of the town of Clonakilty in West Cork. As far back as the 17th Century when the town received it's charter a fish palace was built to salt and barrel pilchard. Fish trading became increasingly popular in the town, so much so that in 1820 a fish market was built on the site now occupied by the fire station. It was about this time that the predecessors of McCarthy's Atlantic Catch began trading in fresh fish and since then McCarthy's Atlantic Catch have been dedicated to bringing the finest of fresh fish taken from West Cork's Atlantic Coast straight to your door. Today McCarthy's Atlantic Catch provide a sales and delivery service to your door but also like their ancestors trade in Clonakilty Country Market on Saturday Morning's and on Clonakilty's main street at the foot of McCurtain Hill on Fridays.
