Mammy Matters, Founded by Joanna Sherlock , sees everyday the effects of social expectation on mother's and how they feel pressured into pretending to feel a certain way when they don't. The fear & shame they feel because of this, and how such heavy stigma prevents them from seeking help or talking to someone. A strong motto of our service is "Let's talk about it". Let's talk about loss of identity and how that feels, let's talk about how I am so often full of anger & irritation. Let's talk about the problems I see between me and my partner and how I think he doesn't understand what I'm going through. Let's talk about how I panic a lot of the time and how I truly believe I'm going mad. Let's talk about how I never seem to put myself first anymore and feel guilty if I do. Let's talk about how tired I'm getting of pretending.
