In my garden designs I am more and more influenced by two major factors that I believe are very important to a successful , sustainable space that is a pleasure to be in. This garden is a space that 1) should be continually moving with life and 2) should also be directly connected with the way our seasons change, in this ( our ) part of the country.

We can include these two essential design principals in our gardens by keeping hens,bees, an active water-feature,
wildlife areas, growing fruit bushes or trees, vegetables, herbs, bird feeding areas, insect habitats, garden candles,etc etc. It will work on any scale! How much or how little you do will depend on space available, skill level and time available but one thing is certain, basing our garden design on nature will re- connect us with every thing that is good for our minds, body and souls,and working in it will be a tonic and keep us connected with what is really important.

These ‘ nature influenced ‘ design principles that I talk about also lend themselves to pleasure gardens that are full of flowing lines, changing colours, multi species planting and movement of living ceatures. You will see these elements in a lot of my designs and I will be posting about veg gardening, beekeeping, self sufficiency, native hedgerows ,the passing seasons and nature in general on this page.

garden centre in Fermoy, ‘The Mill Garden Centre’

’97- ’06 Self employed Landscape Contractor. Private clientele, installation of a very wide range of landscape
projects from large water-features, stone entrances, paved driveways, lighting, planting schemes , etc
All work designed, priced, sourced , installed and maintained by my’ Landscaping Solutions’ . .
’05- present; I started teaching part time and concentrated on developing
the design & consultancy aspect of my business. This enabled me to work as a sole trader doing
garden design ona professional basis.
I purchased CAD hardware and software and trained in their use, All my design and drawing work is
now carried out digitally.
Horticultural consultancy ,legal projects & planning permission services became a large part of my business on a
country-wide scale for individuals and developers, referred by engineer and architect contacts to their clients.
In 2007 I won a contract to design and supervise the landscaping at Castlehyde, the home of Michael Flatley
which took nearly all my non- teaching time for over three years. Projects of all sizes from public
parks to commercial screening to private gardens are available in my extensive portfolio. This portfolio is
recorded digitally since 2007, and in hard copy before that. In 2013 I initiated a business facebook page
