Kerry One World Centre 2.79

We recently conducted a public survey of stakeholders:

Q.2. One World Centres aim to support learning and action on global and local development issues. Do you think there is a role for such a centre in County Kerry? Why?
responses:
*We are all global citizens and should assume responsibility around the issue. KADE can drive the issue particularly in second level schools and is vital to progressing the issue.
*There is a Dublin bias in relation to funding and events for global education. There is a real need for regions outside of Dublin to have access to information on these issues
*Keep Dev Ed on the agenda and in the public eye there is a role for this type of organization in all areas of Ireland
*The importance of discussing issues such as climate change, equality, fair trade should never be ignored. The wider the audience the better, nothing positive can happen unless people understand how these issues arise.
*I think these are issues that should be important in any county, Kerry is no exception.
*There is a role for such centres in all counties or regions
*Most of the initiatives on development issues are in Dublin, so anything that is decentralized is welcome.
*Because they are the engine behind the motivation of others locally
*OWCs get the global issue down to grassroots and local action is always needed to effect change
*We need development education activities throughout the island of Ireland, particularly in areas which are perhaps not as well serviced as others by DE providers.
* Maybe it's hard to believe sometimes, but Kerry is actually a part of the world!
