Jessica and David Murphy are the owners of Kai Restaurant.

The philosophy at Kai Restaurant is very simple, head chef Jessica sources fresh, organic produce from local suppliers to create daily menus bursting with flavour, texture and colour..

Kai’ is the Maori word for food and in 2011 they opened the door with a simple formula — high-quality produce, preferably organic or wild, sourced locally and cooked intelligently.

Kai Restaurant stone floors and subtle nod to home interior means that as soon as you walk through the door, you feel like you have been here before. Kai Restaurant evokes memories through their food because it is from memories that Jess Murphy is most inspired.

There's two things for Jess when it comes to food - it has to taste great and visually, it has to be amazing.” I don't mind if it's not 100 per cent as long as the taste and the flavours are there. But you get that by buying quality. What we get is the Rolls Royce of ingredients.”

From Monday to Saturday from 9:30am, freshly brewed coffee and their in house bakes make each morning in Galway better. With the stove fired up in the colder months, Kai Restaurant is a place that people go to read the paper, have a warm scone or croissant and have a morning meeting with a friend or neighbour. There is no wifi in Kai, it’s not a place where you want to be on your phone, unless taking pictures of the beautiful interior or the food that is bring served.
Lunch is served daily from 12 noon to 3pm, there is six dishes and these change daily. Sustainability and ethical sourcing is paramount to what Kai is all about, what’s in season will be on your plate. Dinner at Kai Restaurant is a feast of locally sourced fish, game, meat all served with the freshest and seasonal vegetables.
