Conor Ahern has been a permanent presence on the Irish Amateur Boxing scene over the last decade.

Over the course of his career at flyweight, he has consistently been regarded as one the toughest ring technicians and hardest punchers of his generation.

He is as passionate about the sport, as he was when he laced up his gloves to win his first of 13 Irish titles at the age of twelve and credits boxing, hard work, and the dedication of the team around him, as being one his most important ingredients in his success so far.

Trained by Ned Hendricks of Baldoyle Boxing Club, Conor has representing Ireland at three World Championships 2003, 2005, 2007, European Championships 2004, 2008 and Olympic qualifier tournaments.

The skills he harnessed in his local gym led him to be nominated to the Irish Sports Council’s High Performance Team for Elite Athletes, where he won numerous international Gold medals while representing Ireland over 100 times, and where he trained with some of the best coaches and sports psychologists in the world.

An ambassador for the sport throughout his career, Conor successful implemented community based boxing programmes for Dublin City Council and the CDVEC and developed a boxing programme that focussed on an interactive and confidence building learning environment designed to promote physical activity in local primary and secondary schools.

His reputation for high intensity training has been recognised outside the world of boxing, having been appointed as a fitness instructor for the Dublin Senior Hurling Team where he is responsible for carrying out a eight week pre-season fitness programme in 2007 – 2008.

His new challenge will draw on his international experiences in the ring and his commitment as a positive lifestyle role model, to inspire people, big or small, that want to get fit, to raise revenue for their charity and to learn some of the life skills he learnt as a world class competitor.
