Fred O' Mahony Woodturning 2.3

Fred is a Woodturner who works primarily with local and native hardwoods,
creating both commissioned and functional pieces. The functional items
include Salad Bowls, Clocks, Lamps, Candle Holders, Globes with Glass
Chimneys, Mortar and Pestals, these are just a few examples of the work
produced.

My main goal is to broaden the range of pieces I create, push the boundaries
of my ability. I strive to ascertain new and innovative techniques which can
transform an item instantly. I look at each block of wood individually and
distinguish its characteristics, which can be ultimately developed into a
feature, whether it is the bark, shape or the grain that inspires me.

Fred is a member of the Crafts Council of Ireland
Fred has exhibited his work in Garter Lane Gallery Waterford, Butler House
Kilkenny, and the Dungarvan Arts Centre Dungarvan.
