In July 2012, the Irish Red Cross will welcome Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteer teams from all over Europe to Dundalk, Co Louth, as they compete to become the most knowledgeable and skilled First Aid team on the continent in FACE 2012.
FACE (First Aid Convention Europe) is an annual event, hosted by a different European country each year. During the competition Red Cross and Red Crescent volunteers showcase their first aid techniques through practical exercises.
In these excercises participants will respond to simulations of domestic incidents, sport incidents, working incidents, and various emergencies, coordinating their actions in order to ensure efficient and effective first aid.
The simulations, called "Test Stations" will also include the task of verifying the participants' knowledge in different fields such as social activities, psychosocial support and international human rights.
