Amatsu in Ireland

Although Amatsu has been practised for several thousand years in Japan, in Ireland, the far reaching benefits of Amatsu are only now becoming recognised. Unlike many other therapies available in Ireland, Amatsu treats the body as a whole rather than just looking at individual symptoms or ailments.

Amatsu as practised in Ireland is a modern, up-to-date adaptation of the ancient Japanese soft-tissue therapy. The philosophy of Amatsu is based on the principles of our natural movement, known as Go-dai. Amatsu focuses on the inter-reaction of the body’s five major systems: the physical, mental, chemical (hormones, diet), environmental and electrical (nervous system, energy systems and energy levels). As these body systems are all inter-connected, if one or more is not functioning as it is supposed to, it will have a negative effect on the other parts of the body’s overall system.

Amatsu is non-invasive

Amatsu is a non-invasive technique which works with the body’s soft tissue (e.g. muscles, tendons, ligaments and organs) to help re-balance other key mechanical and energetic structures (e.g. the spine, bones, joints, cranium and meridian circuits). No thrusts or manipulation of the spine/body occur ever during an Amatsu treatment. An Amatsu treatment is suitable for people of all ages, (including babies), pregnant women and those with limited mobility. Depending on a client’s age, health and needs, the Amatsu techniques we use will range from very gentle to firm. Amatsu practitioners are trained to tailor each and every session, which can vary according to a client’s needs on any given day.

Amatsu reduces risk of injury

Many athletes in Ireland receive regular Amatsu treatments in conjunction with their regular training to keep themselves and their bodies in optimal health, thereby reducing the risk of injury. And, since prevention is better than cure, part of an Amatsu treatment will be showing clients how to listen to and read the signs the body sends to them.

What is an Amatsu treatment like?

An Amatsu treatment normally takes between 30 minutes and 1 hour. The client remains fully clothed throughout the treatment, except for the removal of their shoes.

On a first treatment, a detailed personal history is taken. We assess the body from head to toe by using a combination of observation, muscle-testing and palpation (touch) to gather further information about the client’s current health status.

After identifying the issues the Amatsu practitioner will start the treatment using a combination of soft-tissue techniques including Anma massage, natural movement orientated mobilisation, muscular re-patterning, proprioceptive balancing, visceral and cranial balancing to realign the body.
