Emerald Escargot 2.24

Emerald Escargot produce Helix Aspera Mueller "Petit Gris" snails which are bred and nurtured in a hygienic purpose built facility, before being transferred out to forage on free range vegetables and herbs and then sold live to wholesalers and restaurants within Ireland and Internationally.

Our production method:
* Snails are produced in the unspoilt Lough valley nestled between the Galtee and Silvermine mountains
* Full cycle farmed so strict control over safety and quality of produce from birth to sale
* Snails forage on freshly grown produce in soil that is naturally fertile, and are irrigated in non-chlorinated, non fluoridated water from local underground aquifer
* Snails raised humanely with 5 freedom’s ensured:

*Freedom from hunger and thirst - irrigated with pure water from local aquifer and fed on fresh vegetables, herbs and specialist snail meal imported from France
*freedom from discomfort - bred in spacious purpose built facility where temperature, light and humidity is maintained at levels snails thrive in
*freedom from pain/injury/disease - snail environment is kept clean and hygienic at all times to prevent infections which cause injury and mortality
* freedom to express normal behaviour - low stocking density to ensure all snails have enough space, and to prevent stress associated with overcrowding
*freedom from fear and distress - environment is protected against known snail predators and pests
