The Sports Shop, Bettystown, situated in The Anchorage on Eastham Road, opened its doors on Thursday 8th May 2014.
It's proprietor, Robbie Corr and his wife Vickie moved to Laytown in 2006. Orignally natives of Loughshinny and Skerries, they decided to settle in Laytown with their two children, Sean and Ruby.
Robbie has long been involved in sport, since he first kicked a ball at the age of 5. He grew up playing football for Loughshinny, but was forced in to an early retirement due to injury. Sport has dominated Robbie's working career as well. He is qualified to coach a number of sports, including football to FAI standard, basketball, athletics, and swimming. He currently works with Special Olympics, and has brought teams to the World Games in Athens, and is currently coaching teams to compete in the world Games in LA next year.
The Sports Shop, Bettystown has long been a dream of Robbie's. It has been a project that has finally come to fruition, after months of hard work and one that he is very proud of. Robbie's drive and determination is what is behind him to ensure that The Sports Shop becomes nothing but a success. The shop boasts a fantastic array of all sporting apparel, that is badly needed in Laytown, Bettystown, Mornington, and the surrounding areas. All sports are catered for including football, swimming, GAA, rubgy, running, gym/fitness, and boxing. New sporting activities are being added every month since opening notably handball & Fishing and with Equestrian and Dance to be added by the end of the summer it will be the shop that has it all. Also an extensive back to school range of bags, coats and footwear will be available along with stationary being provided in the Candle events shop next door – it’s the one stop shop for all your back to school needs.
He carries a superb collection of sport and casual footwear including quality children’s shoes, for prices that mums will love. Team wear and all sporting equipment are also available to order. Individual items can ordered and secured with a deposit. A Christmas Club is going to be opened from September as well.
Online support for The Sports Shop has been overwhelming, and Robbie and Vickie are striving hard to meet ALL community's sporting needs. They hope that they will be welcomed into the heart of Bettystown, and they are here to stay!
