A Bouncer is also known as a Doorman, Door Supervisor or Cooler and is an informal term for a type of security guard employed at venues such as bars, nightclubs or concerts to provide security, check legal age, or to refuse entry for intoxication, aggressive behavior, or lack of attractiveness. Bouncers are often required where crowd size, clientele or alcohol consumption may make arguments or fights commonplace.
• Checking the suitability of people as they enter the building
• Searching people for drugs or weapons ( if required)
• Dealing with conflict
• Restraining and escorting individuals from the venue if necessary
• Dealing with emergencies
• Supervising people as they leave the premises.
• Prevent patrons from bringing glass or bottles out of the premises
• Ensure drunken persons are not allowed onto the premises
• Prevent known trouble makers such as known bag snatchers from gaining entrance to the premises
• Deal with An Garda Siochana where necessary
• Working hours for door supervisors vary.
• Comply with all equality legislation such as the equal status act , liquor licensing acts etc supervisors vary.
