Welcome to Dog Training Leitrim. Our aim is to provide you with all necessary knowledge of how to:

• understand your dog’s behaviour
• communicate with your dog
• teach your dog to be obedient

We will show you how to build a good relationship with your dog by understanding the dog's way of thinking and learning. We will help you to build a lasting friendship and create a common world. With us you can raise, train and actively spend time with your pet. We work with modern, positive and science based training methods.

1. ONE TO ONE SESSION

Training program is matched to the individual needs for every team (handler and the dog).
Training session may take place in dogs indoor facility, outside or in our secure exercise area in Mohill.

2. GROUP CLASSES (puppy & adult dogs)

- PUPPY GROUP CLASSES;

are designed for puppies up to 20 weeks old. Many behavioural issues are caused by a lack of proper socialization in puppy age.
This is the best time for the dog to explore the world (different places, surfaces, objects, noises etc.), meet new people and learn how to build a correct relationship with other dogs.

We recommend that you start puppy socialization classes as soon as they are fully vaccinated.

Puppy classes program includes (socialisation and puppy manners):

• socialisation with different surfaces, object, noises etc.
• key socialisation & building correct relationship with strangers
• key socialisation & building correct relationship with different dogs
• focusing on the handler
• building a reliable recall
• hand-signals & verbal cues
• teaching commands as; sit, down, come, leave-It, heel
• preparing for vet examination
• preparing for grooming
• boosts shy puppies confidence & helps overcome fear-based behaviours

- ADULT GROUP CLASSES (designed for dogs 6 months old and more):

• test for dogs reaction with strangers and new environment
• focusing on the handler
• interactive games with dog
• self-control exercises
• preparing for vet examination
• hand-signals & verbal cues
• sit, down, stay, come, leave-It, heel on and off leash
• retrieving
• tricks

3. RESIDENTIAL TRAINING:

is ideal for busy dog owners, those who are not able to take a part in one to one sessions, group classes or who require professional help to train and get the best out of their dog.
We ask that you bring with you a note describing the main problems you are experiencing at home so we can work through these every day.
Practical handling/training, behaviour management and motivational tools are gone over and discussed to ensure the owner is completely comfortable and confident to assume the role as their dog’s handler. Once we train you, the owner, and you take on board the training and the training techniques we use here and implement them at home, you will see a big change in your dog’s behaviour.
If not the dog will of course revert back to old behaviours.

Duration: 6 weeks

This charge include boarding, training, training the owner.

4. BEHAVIOURAL ADVICE:

Behaviourist is a specialist in human-animal relationship associated with (dog, cat). It is a counsellor who helps the owner of a pet to produce satisfactory bond between him and the animal and remove or reduce:

• Unwanted behaviours as: escapes, chasing bikes or cars, jumping up on people, lead pulling, excessive barking, separation anxiety
• disturbing emotional states, anxiety, phobias, depression, aggression towards other dogs and people

Behaviourist diagnoses the problem (based on an interview with the owner and observation of the behaviour of the dog / cat) and then develops a personalized treatment. The entire repair process is carried out under the supervision of a therapist.

We advise:

• everyone who want to become a puppy owner to match the right one to suit your requirements and preparing a home for a puppy
• everyone who want to re-home dog/cat to choose the right one and supporting the accustoming process in new family

- FIT PAWS

Fit Paws has many benefits for:

- working dogs (sport, protection, show, service/assistance)
- puppies
- older dogs
- overweight dogs

This class starts with warm up exercises, than we will work out dog’s entire body using Fit Paws equipment and will be followed by cool-down massage.

Fit Paws exercises develop:

• core strength
• flexibility
• balance
• proprioception
• muscle toning
• increase range of motion in joints
and help to:
• build stronger bond between you and your dog
• reduce the risk of injury
• improves behaviour
• build confidence (recommended for fearful, nervous dogs)

Exercise program is designed individually for every dog. We can teach also different dogs massage techniques.

Pre-requisite: full vaccinations plus kennel cough vaccination, dog should be vet examined to take a part in Fit Paws sessions.

- CANINE SPORT CLUB

The club aims to explore the association of handlers willing and improve techniques for working with dogs, the exchange of experiences related to the training of their pets and ready for active leisure.Activity focused on running and popularizing dog training, promote the proper relationship between humans to animals and preventing their inhumane treatment.
To participate in the activities of the club is complete knowledge of the advanced level, enabling independent work in a team dog-guide with the wider support of trainers.
