Cloontabonnive agroforest is located about 1.5 km outside Connolly village in County Clare. To us, the most important thing is to live in harmony with Mother Earth and respect nature as the life giving force.
We are working on the land to create a sustainable agroforest, this means planting not only trees but also integrating fruit and vegetable crops in the farmland. There is a lot to do until it will be established.
Agroforestry is an integrated approach of using the interactive benefits from combining trees and shrubs with crops and/or livestock. It combines agricultural and forestry technologies to create more diverse, productive, profitable, healthy, and sustainable land-use systems. A narrow definition of agroforestry is "trees on farms.
We grow our own fruits, vegetables, flowers and herbs. The ultimate aim is to be as self-sufficient as possible. Learning how to preserve the seasons harvest for winter use and taking care of our resources has been a very rewarding experience for us.
