Ait or Athlone Rtc rugby began with the college and under Welshman Colin Evans enthusiastic tenure thrived until he handed over to the legendary Paul Hamilton .In 1988 Paul enveigled Charlie Couper into coaching and in 1992 we won our first Senior Div 1 all Ireland title.A few years later Paul left and Charlie asked Kevin O Sullivan to be Chairman.There followed another All Ireland in 1997 and for four years from 2000 ait won 4 Div 1 Freshers and 7s titles.The total is now 20.Charlie is now joined by Geoff Kenny and Connor Galvin in coaching a senior ,2nds and freshers teams.
