I have been working as a nurse in an Oncology day ward for over 10 years giving chemotherapy. This means that I have become acutely aware of the stresses, side effects of treatment and emotional difficulties patients face when given a cancer diagnosis. For 7 of those years I also worked as a complementary therapist delivering Adapted Reflexology/Holistic Massage/Creative Imagery and Progressive Muscle Relaxation to Oncology/ Haematology and Palliative care patients at all stages of their journey. It was evident that an hours’ session of complementary therapy over a series of 6 -8 weeks was hugely beneficial for anyone living with cancer.
