LATAR BELAKANG DI DIRIKANNYA SITUATIONAL ENGLISH COURSE

Situational English Course didirikan tahun 1973. Adapun latar belakang didirikannya Situational English Couse untuk memberi pelajaran Bahasa Inggeris kepada siswa/i dimana Bahasa Inggeris seperti yang sama-sama kita ketahui adalah Bahasa Internasional ( diseluruh dunia orang-orang menggunakan Bhs. Inggeris sebagai bahasa pengantar antara satu negara dengan negara lain atau satu perusahaan dengan perusahaan yang lainnya ).

Disamping untuk mencerdaskan kehidupan berbangsa dan bernegara, Bhs Inggeris juga bisa menaikkan tarap kehidupan orang-orang yang menguasainya.

Riwayat hidup singkat Pimpinan

Situational English Course

Abdul Aziz adalah pendiri Situational English Course. Kursus ini di dirikan tahun 1973. Beliau adalah lulusan Khalsa Indian School (semula di sebut Khalsa English School) pada tahun 1961. Dari tahun 1962 sampai dengan pertengahan tahun 1963 mengajar Bahasa Inggeris di Universitas Alwashliyah di Rantau Prapat. Pada pertengahan tahun 1963 mulai mengajar di Khalsa Indian School Medan. Bahasa pengantar yang dipakai untuk mengajar semua mata pelajaran adalah Bahasa Inggeris. Mula-mula mengajar di Form Two. Kemudian mengajar di Form Three, Junior, Pre-Senior dan terakhir Senior Class. Mata pelajaran yang diajarkan adalah sebagai berikut:

1. English Language.
2. Mathematics (Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry).
3. General Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology).
4. Principles of Accounts.
5. Health Science.

Beliau menjadi guru kelas di Senior Class lebih dari sepuluh tahun. Ujian akhir untuk siswa/i Senior Class langsung dari Universitas Senior Cambridge London. Ujian dilaksanakan di bawah pengawasan Konsul Inggeris dan soal-soal di buat oleh Senior Cambridge London. Kertas jawaban siswa/i dikirim oleh Konsul Inggeris ke Senior Cambridge London untuk diperiksa disana. Hasil ujian ini akan diketahui siswa/i lebih kurang empat bulan kemudian dengan penyerahan Sertifikat bagi yang lulus.

Pada tahun 1973 dibukalah Kursus Bahasa Inggeris yang diberi nama SITUTIONAL ENGLISH COURSE. Kursus ini telah berjasa menghasilkan banyak sekali siswa/i mahir berbahasa Inggeris. Banyak diantara mereka menjadi guru Bahasa Inggeris disekolah-sekolah negeri maupun swasta, jadi penerjemah di Koran-koran, mengajar di Universitas Negeri maupun Swasta, Pemandu Parawisata dan lain-lain.

ENGLISH VERSION

Mr. Abdul Aziz was the founder of SITUATIONAL ENGLISH COURSE. He was the student of Khalsa Indian School which was at first known as Khalsa English School. He was graduated from the school in 1961. From the years of 1962 until the middle of 1963 he gave lecture in English in University of Alwashliyah in Rantau Prapat. His debut in this University did not last long. Later he became a teacher in Khalsa Indian School. The medium used in this school was English. Every subject was explained in English. At first he was the form teacher in form two class. Later he taught form three, Junior, Pre-Senior and Senior Classes.

He handled the following subjects in the Senior Class.

1. English Language.
2. Mathematics (Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry).
3. General Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology).
4. Principles of Accounts.
5. Health Science.

He was the form teacher of the Senior Class for more than ten years. The final Examination i.e. for the Senior Class was directly supervised by the British Consulate. Usually the staffs of the Consulate took charge of the examination. The questions papers were made by the Senior Cambridge University London. After the examination the answer sheets would be sent to London by the British Consulate to be corrected there. About four months later the students would get the results of their examination and received the certificates issued by the University of Senior Cambridge, London. He stopped teaching from the Scholl in 1983. The following letters from the head master of Khalsa Indian School and the Consulate General of Indian confirmed that he was really a teacher in the Khalsa Indian School.
