Our story...

Our company was born 10 years ago from our vision to bring quality furniture to the UK. We started with suppliers based in China which worked well at first but after some time we found that standards began to deteriorate. Materials, workmanship, and build quality all suffered. It was a frustrating situation and we quickly came to realise that control over the entire process is the only way to truly manage standards.

With this in mind we relocated all operations to Indonesia and the company is called London Furniture Co. Indonesia as a long and proud tradition of furniture making. There are skilled craftsmen with an ingrained work ethic as well as guaranteed, ustainable resources via government initiatives. This framework gave us the confidence to commit to ownership of our supply chain; to this end we now have our own factory and warehouse and we source our own materials from hardware and handles to raw wood.

This control of the fundamental processes of furniture-making brings multiple benefits and possibilities. We can apply standards of quality directly rather than through a third party thus producing top levels of excellence and transparency both of which are prized values by buyers the world over. Crucially, our quality control system checks the process at each step so possible issues are highlighted at source and dealt with immediately.

These low level checks also inform future processes and improve company
procedures for minimal expense. Raw wood, dried wood, component pieces, hardware, build of the unfinished product, preparation of the unfinished product, finish of the product, and wrapping are all checked as well as a final check prior to loading for any external damage.

To provide structure and accountability to
this process, each piece of furniture comes with a quality checklist that is signed by the worker who carried out the check.

Through this transparent trail of accountability any issues that arise can be localised and the problem resolved for future procedures whether through more training or a more robust and rigorous process.

We also believe in fairness and an individuals right to prosper. We believe a happy worker produces the best furniture. That is why we pay well, offer possibilities of advancement and provide a safe,
clean, and friendly environment for all our staff.

We encourage our staff to provide suggestions on how to improve the supply chain, the factory and the warehouse. We believe as the company grows our people will grow with us. We also auction our surplus stock in Indonesia, the proceeds of which go straight to the local community.

We take our eco-friendly ethos seriously. We care about our world and our environment. Our move to Indonesia has given us the ability to foster an ethical culture within the company, a matter very close to our hearts. We only source wood from renewable, government managed plantations, however we strife for more.

We are in the process of acquiring accreditation. This will provide an even more transparent supply of raw materials. Traceability and accountability are key for our discerning customers and so we are
constantly striving for better.
