The full name of the Robert Schuman Institute (RSI) is “Union of the Robert Schuman Institute for Developing Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe”. Members of this Union currently include 31 political parties and organizations from all over Europe. The Institute works since 1995, as a successor of the “Christian Democratic Academy for Central and Eastern Europe” established in 1991 by the European Union of Christian Democrats (EUCD) and a number of national parties and foundations. RSI still operates under the auspices of the European People’s Party.

The key activities of the Robert Schuman Institute are political education projects that are conducted in English, including training courses, conferences and study trips. These programmes are provided for the youth of Christian Democratic and Centre-Right political parties and organisations free of charge.

We only organise international events for potential young leaders, members, staff and officials of the EPP sister and cooperating parties in our target region. Since the 2004 / 2007 enlargement of the EU we focus mostly on the Eastern and Southeastern new (potential) accession countries and other neighbouring countries of the EU, that is Albania, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, FYRO Macedonia, Georgia, Kosovo / UNMIK, Moldova, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and Ukraine.
