Details

Budapest Art Factory (BAF) - founded in 2006 - is a not for profit, contemporary studio, exhibition and project space, installed in a 900m2 industrial hall in the capital of Hungary. BAF is home to a group of professional fine artists - Márta Kucsora, Dóra Juhász and Sándor Szász - who themselves run the organization.
In addition to organizing exhibitions, studio visits and panel discussions, BAF runs an international artist and curator residency program with the aim of establishing a platform for the dialogue of contemporary art. During the residency organic connections are not only forged with the network of local art professionals, but with those internationally acclaimed artists who are invited to collaborate on a short-term basis.
The Factory has 6 separate studio spaces, between 60-90 sqm, and an exhibition space of 120 sqm. Budapest Art Factory welcomes visitors all year round, however the residency program and all venues are scheduled between May and October.
The lofty ceiling height, ample roof light and the overall industrial ambience of the former ex-turbine factory supports inspiration, helping its permanent and guest artists to sustain their creative work.

Budapest Art Factory Artist and Curator Residency Program

The artist and curator residency program was launched in 2013. Within the framework of the program BAF invites internationally recognized artists and curators for a one to five months creative experience.
The goal of the program is to explore and reflect upon the ideas, concepts introduced by the invited art professionals, to create a vivid arena for intellectual discourse.
Workshops, lectures, exhibitions and other venues are organized in order to bring forward a special theme that is culturally relevant.
The BAF residency program is ideal for those who wish to immerse themselves in the cultural scene of the Hungarian capital.
The guest artist will be introduced to the artistic circuit of Budapest. During the residency organic connections are not only forged with the network of local art professionals, but with those internationally acclaimed artists who are invited to collaborate on a short-term basis. Furthermore, the lofty ceiling height, ample roof light and the overall industrial ambience of the former ex-turbine factory supports inspiration, helping artists to sustain their creative work.

The residency is by invitation, however we accept application proposals.
