Wah Yan College, Hong Kong is a grant-in-aid secondary school in Hong Kong. Founded on 16 December 1919 by Tsui Yan Sau Peter, it is now a Roman Catholic secondary school for boys run by the Chinese Province of the Society of Jesus.Fully subsidised by the Government of Hong Kong, it is a grammar school using English as the medium of instruction. It is often revered by the local community, together with its brother school Wah Yan College, Kowloon, as one of the most elite and prestigious boys' schools in Hong Kong. It has an enrolment of approximately 800 students with 60 teachers and Irish Jesuit Fathers. The Supervisor of the school is Rev. Fr. Stephen Chow, S.J., who is an alumnus of the school, a Roman Catholic Jesuit priest, and an educational psychologist. The current principal of the school is Dr. So Ying Lun, who is an alumnus and a former teacher of the school. Dr. So has a PhD from The University of Hong Kong and an MBA from The Chinese University of Hong Kong.Students have exemplary performance at the HKDSE and admission rate of Form 1 student at Wah Yan College remains very low. It is generally recognised by the public that Wah Yan College, Hong Kong is a top 'Band 1' school.It is manifest that Wah Yan College, Hong Kong has been one of the best secondary school for a long time, the recent proposal of joining the 'Direct Subsidy Scheme' has attracted a lot of opposing voices. Current students, parents as well as the alumni throw doubts on the school's proposal as well as the principal's management skills. The proposal remains in planning stage as of this moment.
