Il Mattarello HK - Italian Fresh Homemade Pasta & Specialties 3.03

"Il Mattarello" is all about taste and tradition. Born in June 2014, out of our passion about pasta and Italian traditional recipes, "Il Mattarello" got its name from the italian word for rolling pin, a symbol that better represents our food.

Being two people, Filippo and Catherine, we shared our cooking skills and our ways of doing food in one vision: healthy, homemade and strict to the roots of Italy. We are specialized in doing classic pasta and sauces like Fettuccine, Spaghetti, Pesto or Tomato variants, but our best food came from Emilia-Romagna, the region where Filippo is born and grown up. Our signature "Cappelletti" filled pasta, is an institution there. To not be mistaken from the square shaped Ravioli, Cappelletti are from the countryside of Romagna.

"Cappelletti" is a very traditional pasta in Emilia-Romagna, Italy. It is like an expression of love for the food and the place where Filippo, our Pasta Master, was born and raised. It always been the pasta of the big occasions, by having family restaurant in Italy, he saw his grandmother and mother making the pasta since from young which inspire him to continue the tradition by sharing this uniqueness with others.

The original recipe from famous cook Pellegrino Artusi dictates a specific filling of cheese, then serving in soup, but time after time more variants are added. Only one thing keeps unchanged and that's the base dough, made of flour and eggs only, that enriches the pasta flavour and with its own elasticity gives a "good bite" feeling. This feeling is what we like to share in our products, when the fancyness is over and only that good taste in your mouth remains until the next bite!
