The HKUST Institute for Emerging Market Studies (HKUST IEMS) promotes high-quality faculty research and research collaboration on issues of practical importance to businesses and policy makers in emerging markets; communicates relevant research findings by HKUST researchers to the business and public policy communities through reports, newsletters, and events; and provides a platform through its events for increasing knowledge, awareness, and exchange of ideas about issues facing emerging markets among academics, the business community, government officials, and other interested parties.
HKUST IEMS has around 40 Faculty Associates with research interests in emerging markets, coming from all departments of the School of Business and Management and from the Division of Social Sciences. Faculty research addresses the following themes: sustainable growth, macroeconomic policy (included international trade and finance), capital market development, business management and strategy, human capital, and inequality.
HKUST IEMS is generously supported by EY (Ernst & Young) for an initial five-year period (2013-17).
