北京藝術家宋冬為油街實現建造一個盆景，利用社區棄用的物資－垃圾，於草地上構建成一座可自然生長植物的山丘。這片人造的園景引申出「不做」和「創造」的迷思。

《白做園》是一個可持續不斷發展的；可以生長的項目。具有很多不確定因素在其中，這些未知的不斷發生的部分是這個專案的靈魂。

它是一個有著極簡狀態的盆邊圈，而圈內是一個「自由之地」。大家可在圈中做任何事情，例如讀書、開會、聚餐、演藝、遊戲、擺攤、展覽、演講、抗議等等。事情完結後留下來的垃圾和剩留物堆積，大年初六將用土覆蓋，之後播種和灌溉。「自由」成為「養份」或「毒藥」併入土壤，成為生長的基礎。形成的盆景又成為一個新的「自由之地」。既可「採摘」，又可「耕耘」。這正是「不做白不做，做了也白做，白做也得做。」

盆景的觀念是一個縮影，《白做園》也是一個社會的縮影。
人類不斷發展，不斷摧毀，又不斷重建……
費了勁，到最後還是什麼也沒有，但白做也得做。
重要的是一個過程。

Beijing artist Song Dong creates a potted landscape for Oi!, which essentially is an accumulation of organic material and rubble waste of the community. The project fits in with the natural environment by growing native grasses and flowers. This integrated artificial landscape beckoning the question - can doing nothing lead to creating something?
The ‘Doing Nothing Garden’ is a developing project that grows and sustains itself. The uncertainties formed the spirit of this project.
Inside the ‘Ground of Freedom’, a piece of land enclosed by a simply designed ring, one could play, eat, read, practise, perform, deliver speeches, create and exhibit, demonstrate or battle. The traces and wastes of free actions collected will be covered by soil on the sixth day of Lunar New Year. Seeds will be sowed and irrigated; together with ‘freedom’ as ‘fertilizer’ or ‘poison’ that becomes the foundation of growth. The grown garden could be a new ‘Ground of Freedom’ for ‘farming’ and ‘harvesting’. This is the spirit of the notions on doing something, doing nothing, wasting and not wasting.

The concept of potted landscape is to create an epitome, while “Doing Nothing Garden” is an epitome of the society.
The human kind falls into an endless cycle of development and destruction…
Efforts were made but nothing is guaranteed at the end.
What truly matters is the process we’ve been through.
