PGI Epanomi Wines 3.31

Epanomi region is approximately 25km from Thessaloniki and 15km from the International Airport “Makedonia”. Wines produced by grapes cultivated in the region are classified as Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) Epanomi. For their high and consistent quality, PGI Epanomi Wines are every year awarded with significant international distinctions.
The slopes of Epanomi region, lie a few kilometers to the south-east of Thessaloniki. The vineyard is surrounded by sea on its three sides, and its west side faces Thermaikos Gulf and Mount Olympus.
The sandy-clayey sea deposits of the area, along with mild winters and temperate summers, constitute an ideal ecosystem for vine cultivation.
The versatility of this ecosystem is evidenced by the 28 bird species that make the estate their home according to a scientific German research.
Primarily Greek but also international varieties are cultivated, assuring all specifications for the production of high-quality wine grapes.
The vineyard now contains a multitude of Greek varieties. Both known and unknown varieties, foremost Greek, are also cultivated for experimental purposes.
