Faros Sifnos Cyclades - Φάρος Σίφνος Κυκλάδες 4.58

Faros is a fishermen village with a leeward port, situated 7 km. from Apollonia. Faros was the port o Sifnos up to 1883 and it took its name after the lighthouse which was situated on the beach (where today starts the path leading from Faros to Glipho).

In Faros there are three small sandy beaches:

The central beach of Faros is located at the end of the asphalted road and it has a wonderful view of Chrissopigi. Here, you will find restaurants, taverns, cafeterias - snack bars and a grocery. On the jetty of Faros, there is a small stone theater, where many cultural events take place during the summer. In the village there is also a municipal parking.
The beach of Glipho (=brackish), which took its name from a well with brackish water that has been there from the ancient times till today, is accessible by a short path that begins on the right side of the beach of Faros. There are no buildings on the beach of Glipho. Here starts a beautiful path that leads to the beach of Apokofto and to Chrissopigi. From those beaches one can see the ladder of the mines and the installations for the loading of minerals that were extracted from the mines of this area. Therearelightsalongthepathallnightlong.
Fassolou is the beach, which is located on the left side of the beach of Faros and it is accessible by a path that starts from Faros, next to the bus station, or by the asphalted road. On this beach you will find a restaurant. In Fassolou you will also find the monastery of the Cross (in Greek: Stavros) of Faros.
In Faros there is also the rocky coast of Aspra Gremna, which is located on the way to the entrance of the carriageway that leads to Fassolou.

In the wider area of Faros there are many tourist lodgings (hotels, rooms to let, studios and apartments).

Faros est un village de pêcheurs, protégé des vents, qui est situé à 7 kilomètres d’Apollonia. Faros était le port de Sifnos jusqu’à 1883 et son nom provient de l'ancien tour qui faisait partie d'un système de communication consistant en l'utilisation du feu, qui était situé sur la plage (là où aujourd'hui commence le chemin qui mène de Faros à Glipho).

À Faros il existe trois petites plages de sable:

La plage centrale de Faros est située à la fin de la rue asphaltée. Sa vue magnifique donne sur Chrissopigi. Sur la plage vous trouverez des restaurants, des tavernes, des cafés – snack bars, et une épicerie. Sur la môle de Faros il y a un petit théâtre en pierre où pendant l’été on organise des divers événements culturels. Dans le village il existe aussi un parking et un terrain de 5 Χ 5.
La plage de Glipho (le nom provient du puits qui existe ici depuis les temps anciens et jusqu’à nos jours dont l’eau est saumâtre) est accessible par un petit sentier qui commence au côté droit de la plage de Faros. Il n’existe aucun bâtiment sur cette plage. À Glipho vous trouverez un beau chemin qui mène à la plage d'Apokofto et à Chrissopigi. De ces deux plages vous pouvez voir l’échelle des mines et les installations de chargement de minerais de la mine de la région. Le chemin est éclairé sur toute sa longueur pendant la nuit.
Fassolou est la plage qui se trouve à gauche de la plage de Faros qui est accessible par le chemin qui commence à Faros, à côté de l’arrêt du bus ou par la rue asphaltée. Sur la plage vous trouverez un restaurant. À Fassolou il y a aussi le monastère de la Croix (en grec: Stavros) de Faros.
À Faros il ya aussi la côte rocheuse de Aspra Gremna, qui est situé sur le chemin de l'entrée de la chaussée qui mène à Fassolou.

À la région de Faros il y a beaucoup d'hébergements touristiques (hôtels, chambres à louer, studios et appartements).

Απάνεμο λιμανάκι και ψαροχώρι 7 χιλ. από την Απολλωνία, ο Φάρος υπήρξε λιμάνι της Σίφνου ως το 1883 και πήρε το όνομα του από τον αρχαίο πύργο –φρυκτωρία που υπήρχε πάνω στην παραλία (εκεί που σήμερα αρχίζει το μονοπάτι από το Φάρο για το Γλυφό). ΦΑΡΟΣ.

Στο Φάρο υπάρχουν τρεις μικρές αμμώδεις παραλίες:

Η κεντρική του Φάρου, εκεί που καταλήγει η άσφαλτος, με καταπληκτική θέα στη Χρυσοπηγή, που διαθέτει εστιατόρια, ταβέρνες, καφετέριες-σνακ μπαρ και παντοπωλείο. Στην προβλήτα του Φάρου υπάρχει μικρό πετρόκτιστο θεατράκι στο οποίο, κατά τη διάρκεια της καλοκαιρινής περιόδου, πραγματοποιούνται διάφορες πολιτιστικές εκδηλώσεις. Επίσης στον οικισμό υπάρχει και δημοτικό πάρκινγκ.
Η παραλία του Γλυφού (το όνομά της πήρε από πηγάδι με γλυφό νερό που υπάρχει από αρχαιοτάτων χρόνων μέχρι σήμερα) στην οποία οδηγούμαστε από ένα μικρό μονοπάτι που αρχίζει από την δεξιά πλευρά της παραλίας του Φάρου και δεν έχει κανένα κτήριο στην άμμο. Από το Γλυφό αρχίζει όμορφο μονοπάτι που οδηγεί στην παραλία του Αποκοφτού και στη Χρυσοπηγή. Και από τις δυο αυτές παραλίες είναι ορατή η σκάλα των μεταλλείων και οι εγκαταστάσεις φόρτωσης μεταλλεύματος του ορυχείου της περιοχής. Σε όλη τη διαδρομή του μονοπατιού υπάρχει διακριτικός φωτισμός καθ'όλη τη διάρκεια της νύκτας.
Επίσης η Φασολού που βρίσκεται στα αριστερά της παραλίας του Φάρου και στην οποία οδηγούμαστε είτε από το μονοπάτι που ξεκινάει από το Φάρο -δίπλα από τη στάση των λεωφορείων, είτε από την άσφαλτο και διαθέτει ένα εστιατόριο. Στη Φασολού βρίσκεται και το μοναστήρι του Σταυρού του Φάρου.
Τέλος, υπάρχει και η βραχώδης ακτή Άσπρα Γκρεμνά, που βρίσκεται στην διαδρομή της εισόδου του αμαξωτού δρόμου προς Φασολού. ΦΑΡΟΣ.

Σε όλη την ευρύτερη περιοχή του Φάρου υπάρχει πληθώρα τουριστικών καταλυμάτων (ξενοδοχείων, ενοικιαζομένων δωματίων, στούντιος και διαμερισμάτων)
