Just outside the walled and historical village of Noves, in the heart of the Provence, ideally situated in the centre of the triangle St-Remy-de-Provence (10km), Avignon (10km) and the Luberon, lies a unique and enchanting domain: Villa Mas St Jean.

This sumptuous building of the 19th century, nestled in the middle of fruit vineyards, invites you to discover the charm and the aroma of Provence.
The domain is fully enclosed by a high brick wall, has a ‘park’ garden with palm trees, over 100-year old olive - and sycamore trees, oleanders and lavender filled walkways, and is appreciated by all its visitors.

Chambre d'hotes de charme
Villa Mas St Jean is a chambre d'hotes de charme all year round. As we are in the top-segment of the chambre d'hotes buisiness, the luxurious, tasteful and quality of decoration and materials is of the highest quality.
We are proud to consequently have received the highest rating for our B&B activity in the entire Avignon - and St-Remy-de-Provence region. For the third year in a row, in 2014 our guests gave us an overall score of 9.7!

Luxury holiday Villa
Apart from being a B&B we also rent our domain as a whole for seasonal rental during all seasons, especially during high season; June through September. When renting our Mas you will benefit from the interior and outdoor decoration, the highest quality of used materials in every little detail. In general holiday homes are equipped and decorated just for its purpose, but Villa Mas St Jean stand out to be one of the best quality homes for seasonal holiday renting in the entire Avignon area.

The Mas
Mas St Jean itself is a beautiful restored 19th century typical Provençal Mas, with thick walls that keeps it in a natural way cool in summer and warm in winter. Due to the occasional mistral (mostly during winter) the front of the Mas is traditionally faced South and all rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the terrace, and all bedrooms also south-faced have astonishing views towards the park.
We bought our Mas in 2004 and ever since we have yearly invested considerable in renovation, restoration, updating and (re-)decorating. Since we have installed 16 sqm of Solar Panels on the roof of the main building in support of the central heating, and for all of the hot water, and for heating the pool, combined with a new state-of-the-art heating system, we managed to become CO2 neutral as much as todays technology allows. Our modest contribution to a cleaner world!

The Mas’ its volume is massive, it has over 380 m² of luxury living space, includes 11 rooms (for guests a total of 4 bedrooms with their 4 private bathrooms) therefore large enough to comfortably host up to 8 adults (the maximum number of persons allowed).
However, the family-suite which we named 'Orient' has a large private mezzanine on which we placed a comfortable couch which easily converts into a comfortable bed for 2 extra persons (usually used by children).

The lovely with antiques and classic furniture decorated living room, the dining room and living kitchen all have open fire places.

Diningroom
The dining room with its Provencal ceiling, situated in the centre of the Mas, has a large open fireplace which is typical for this area of the Provence. The room is decorated with antiques and Provencal Art. The large antique table with eight Lloyd Loom chairs from Vincent Sheppard, is comfortable enough for at least eight persons. Of course, the dining room has doors to the south faced terrace.

The Living
The comfortable living room with its fireplace has an impressive antique staircase leading to the mezzanine and family suite on the first floor. We have placed a large flatscreen TV with satellite reception. There is also TV Orange through internet for all the French channels. Choice is up to you …

The Provencal ceilings, the combination of classic and antique furniture, the Ralph Lauren curtains, the beautiful lamps, simply put, the tasteful and cosy decoration, gives this property a luxurious feeling which hopefully appeals to you. The Kitchen
Our lovely living kitchen with Provencal ceiling and fireplace is fully equipped and provides all the luxury you are accustomed to from your own home.

We recently made a major investment by installing a brand new massive wooden kitchen. As we love to cook (occasionally also for our guests) we installed a massive ‘hand-made’ professional La Cornue Grand Papa 135, which includes 5 stoves, 2 ovens and a teppanyaki.

An American model fridge, dishwasher, microwave are apparent. A magimix, coffee machine, orang presser, mixer … and so on, it is all there. Also more than enough pans, kitchen linen, cutting-boards, cutting knives, cuttelery, glasses and china is fully provided for.

Fire place
In all our previous houses, the kitchen has always been an important place to come together, a place where we socialize. Here in Villa Mas St Jean it's not different. With the open fire place burning, when it gets dark early/late season, this is the perfect place to combine cooking and socializing, with family and friends.

The Parc
Undoubtedly, once you’ve seen it, you will agree, the park is silent, spacious, it’s simply paradise. Decades ago, the original owners of Villa Mas St Jean spent a fortune to make it special and beautiful as it now has become. The domain has a surface of 6.000 m² and has a vast variety of plants and trees, oleanders, palm trees and ancient olive trees. It is also the home of a family of squirrels, and probably a lot more …

Because the property is enclosed by a high brick wall and only accessible through a large electrical gate, and surrounded by fruit plantations from the famous house of Chabas, our guests enjoy absolute maximum privacy. Certainly also ideal with children and/or dogs because they can’t wonder off or get lost.

Feel the provence
Walking through the park makes you aware of the colors so typical for the Provence. The Mas is guarded and kept cool by three impressive huge sycamore trees (over 100-years old). At sunset you can switch on the lamps in the park. Either from the terrace in front of the house or from the terrace alongside the swimming pool, the lighten park is a beautiful and unforgettable sight. Quite romantic!
When you visit the villages around us you will notice that every village has its petanque course, as we do! Use our petanque course to practice your ‘jeu de boules’ skills.
Suites and Rooms
Bleu de Nîmes, Ocre Rouge, Blanc de Sable, Vert de Chine each shade of nature extends into one of the rooms and suites. Also the harmony of colors which continues into the bathrooms.

Luxury
Marble floors, provencal and antique l furniture, luxurious bedding, transparent linen gauze or printed tissues, each bedroom is different decorated and therefor its own style with a particular ambience.

All bathrooms are completely new and installed over the past 3-years.

Suite St. Remy (la Blanche)
This is what we call the junior-Suite, with a French balcony looking out over the park. You enter the room through its small private hallway. Like in every room we placed large king sized (180x200) hotel-boxspring beds. The en-suite bathroom has marble tiles and flooring and has a walk-in (rain) shower. Furthermore a double sink and toilet.

Suite Orient (la Verte)
This is our largest bedroom the family-suite, accessed by an impressive staircase, a 30sqm mezzanine with sitting area and desk. The comfortable couch on the mezzanine is easily converted into an extra 2-persons bed. Two large hotel-boxspring, en-suite bathroom with double sink, toilet and large walk in shower (douche Italienne). In the room is also a furnished sitting area.

Chambre Camarque (La Bleue)
Our superior double bedroom, accessed through its private hallway. Also from this room a stunning view over the park. Two sitting chairs, like all other rooms two large hotel-boxsprings (2x 90x200). Separate en-suite bathroom with large shower (douche Italienne) sink and toilet. Furnished with an antique cabinet.

Chambre Provence (la Rouge)
A very charming double room with a stunning view looking out over the park. Two sitting chairs, two large hotel-boxsprings (2x 90x20). This room has its private (but not en-suite) bathroom directly, just 2-steps, opposite the room. The bathroom has a double sink, toilet and shower. The room is furnished with provencal furniture. The Swimming Pool area
The heated swimming pool is ideally situated at the sunniest location of the domain. The swimming pool is quite large, it measures 6 x 12 meters and tiled with mosaic. Its depth goes to 2.20 meters!

We have installed a stair with 'plage' in the pool which enables you to 'lounge' in the water.

We also have invested heavily in eco-energy by installing solar panels (which are placed out of sight) used for all of the warm water needs of the domain, including the swimming pool. As an extra feature we also installed a ‘pompe de chaleur’ heating system. All these features significantly improves the utilization of the pool during early- and late season. The lamellen coverage covers the entire pool and keeps the quality, cleanness and pleasant temperature of the water, but it also provides security (mandatory by French law!) as children can no longer accidentally drown when they are not supervised. These significant investments makes the property even more appealing.
