Mayenne Gites 2.17

Mayenne Gites is comprised of three properties either adjacent to or near to our own home in the village of Chattemoue which is 2km from Javron les Chapelles in Mayenne. I moved to France to live in December 2013 however we bought our property in October 1999.

Initially, we converted two "dependences" - basically outbuildings - attached to our home which were originally a workshop and a small dairy. We decided that, instead of following the trend of cramming as many beds in as we could, we would concentrate on offering a nice spacious bedroom for singles or couples. Gite Renard does have an alcove with a child bed which can be shielded with a folding screen if preferred. The bedrooms of both Gite Renard and Gite Faun can easily accommodate a travel cot which we can provide if required. We also have a baby bath, serviceable buggy, safety gates and a high chair.

Gite Chouette was next for conversion however this was a much bigger project and took a lot of work (and funds) to complete. With Gite Chouette, we wanted to offer a good holiday for, potentially, two families to share or for parents with children and grandparents to holiday together. Having had two children ourselves, we were sensitive a major factor. Namely that entertaining children can be expensive. We therefore went the extra mile and had a swimming pool installed (with required safety features like lighting, fencing etc), a trampoline (with safety net) and a garden swing/banana slide/glider/see-saw which has been set into a sand bed with rubber safety mats. We have several bicycles and safety helmets and a child seat for those too young to ride! There is also a separate sand pit. Feeding the family has also been considered and both gas and charcoal BBQs are available for use.

We are based in a small village with open fields as well as specific "walks", and have lots of additional facilities (such as horse riding) close by.

For those who would like some time off from cooking, an evening meal can be prepared for a reasonable cost and most wishes catered for (I don't cook veal, kangaroo etc).

We have several "rescue" animals which are happy to be hand fed - 3 pygmy goats, 2 geese, 6 chickens and 2 cockerels and while they have a special area set aside for them (I am trying - honest) they tend to be somewhat "free range".
They cannot access the courtyard of Gite Chouette however.

Animals are welcome (subject to prior agreement) at no extra cost!!!!

I live "on site" full time and am therefore available for advice and information - and even as a babysitter if a night out is wished for!
