Mellow stones, chunky beams, sensuous fabrics... there's a timeless feel to the beautifully renovated Logis, where Sally greets you as old friends. The 18th-century buildings (a paradis is where the oldest, finest Cognac was stored) embrace a magnificent oval courtyard. In big, elegant bedrooms you snuggle down in superbly comfortable king-size beds under white linen... and wake in anticipation of a delicious breakfast (on the raised terrace on sunny days, the luxurious dining room in winter). There's a pool in the aromatic garden, books on the landings, a tea and coffee kitchen, a bar in the former distillery shared with the other guests. Pootle down delightfully empty country roads, discover the finest vineyards for a bit of wine tasting, take a picnic to a stunning Atlantic beach. Return to a stroll round the walled parc by the pretty river Né before a four-course table d'hôtes dinner, enjoyed on the terrace in summer. Sally's generous table features market-fresh local produce, fine wines, and a glass of the neighbour's superb XO Cognac to finish with. Highly professional.
