Accommodation.

La Petite Ecurie, is a charming two bedroom stone cottage, converted from the old stable building here at La Métairie d'Auge. The cottage has been lovingly converted to provide a spacious open plan lounge and kitchen/diner, a shower room and a bathroom and two large bedrooms, offering comfortable accommodation for up to 5 people.
The cottage opens onto the pretty courtyard at the front and has its own private garden and terrace to the rear (with garden furniture and barbecue).
La Petite Ecurie is heated with radiators and a log burning stove and available for rental all year round- ideal for cosy Autumn/Winter.

The grounds

Guests have use of the pool (securely fenced, perfect for children) which has its own south-facing terrace and deck (with garden furniture and sun loungers) overlooking the beautiful countryside. The pool is open from late-May to mid-September and is cleaned daily.
Beyond the pool area is an enclosed paddock, ideal for ball games.
Bike hire is available and we have a range of garden toys and games for children.

Surrounding area

The property is within walking distance (approx 1.5 km) of the picturesque villages of Vicq-sur-Gartempe and Angle-sur-l’Anglin (holder of an award for one of the prettiest villages in France).
Situated on the edge of the Brenne National Park the area is rich in wildlife and the many paths tracks and country lanes make it a haven for bird watching, walking, cycling and horse riding.
The nearby rivers Anglin, Creuse and Gartempe are popular for canoeing and fishing.
Just 10km from the beautiful spa town of La Roche Posay- renowned for the healing properties of its spring water. The town also boasts an 18 hole golf course, markets, a newly opened spa centre and a casino as well as numerous shops and restaurants.

"They are located just outside of Poitiers and near the most amazing town of Angles sur Anglin. From there we travelled to many places. This area is just south of the Loire valley and central to a hugh number of tourist areas. it is located on the edge of the wet lands and park lands. Our tours included many castles, the major one in France: Chenenceau, Villandry , Chambord, zoos such as Beauval (sp), The Valley of the Monkeys, etc. Also Futuroscope, Troglodyte home (homes carved into caves) Abysea a spa pool heated with nuclear plant heated wateretc. The town of Roche Posay, famed for cosmetic production and aquifer water is near by and has markets throughout the week. Le Blanc is near by and also has ecco markets. This whole area is farming oriented and a distance away is a real farmers market with pigs, goats, horses chickens ducks etc for sale. There are more amazing castles in that area as well, albeit seasonally open.

Nick and Julie are from England and I couldn't have had a better host and hostess. They provided help about where to go and how to get there, They had farm fresh eggs available, they had bats, owls and other wonders on their farm. A quick walk through some field brings you into Anglin and the town square where you can lounge in the outdoors if you wish and have a drink, walk to the inspiring ruins and bask in the life of central France."
