Welcome to Horizons Verts!
Horizons Verts – began four years ago, when we arrived in France. A straggle of people, cats, cardboard boxes, ideas and ideals. A scorching September day, a dishevelled house which hadn’t been lived in for six years except for holiday rentals, and two-and-a-half hectares of overgrown land. And some kind of a dream about living sustainably, finding a way to live well, and sharing it.

Four years later, Green Horizons is an ongoing project. Contributed to by family, friends, volunteers, paying guests, animals, visitors – a constantly changing community which still somehow seems to cohere and to belong. So many lessons learned, and lots more still to learn. My almost complete lack of knowledge about construction, woodland management, self-sufficiency, French, or running a chambres d’hotes, has somehow been overcome, remedied, or made up for by the patience of people who know far more and were happy to share it.
