Catfish and Carp fishing holidays in Caspe, Spain on the river Ebro

Of all the venues in Europe, Spain's mighty river Ebro undoubtedly provides the holiday angler with the best chance of catching the fish of a lifetime. The river provides astonishing opportunities for specimen Wels Catfish, Carp and Zander. Over recent times it has delivered monster catfish to over 200lbs, scale bottoming carp to almost 70lbs as well as giant Zander well over 20lbs. We are strategically located in what is considered to be one of the primary hotspots right near Caspe, right on the river.

A guided package is certainly the recommended approach for fishermen who are new to the river. Locating, establishing and then maximising a swim can be a tall order for newcomers with a limited time. For that reason we recommend a guide wherever possible unless you are experienced on this part of the Ebro. Your guide, Steve Donegan, has spent the last four years exclusively mastering the local area. He has personally guided clients with Cats of up to 187 lbs and carp of 52 lbs.

Steve will adopt a flexible approach to the fishing depending on the extremely variable conditions of the river. Additionally, Steve doesn't believe in having huge groups lined up on the bank like some companies. You can rest assured you'll be in groups no bigger than 4 at any one time, so you're not sharing your fish with a line of strangers! Also Steve's ex-military background means he's efficient, well prepared and professional at all times. He's also willing to try more extreme methods... Belly boating for cats anyone?!

Anyone who has fished this area of Spain will be aware of some of the challenges of keeping fishing while keeping up with meals and fluids. Spain can be a harsh environment and many groups become beaten by the weather and poor nutrition as much as the fishing. A packed lunch, breakfast and evening meal option are highly recommended. This means uninterrupted fishing since you don’t have to cook, or seek out restaurants at key fishing times. The fact that Magda is a trained chef and the meals are delicious also helps!
