The Shala is a yoga space dedicated for self-exploration, learning, healing and meeting friends. Its a place to escape the city chaos and delve deep into your inner world.

Located in green Maadi, The Shala is a small haven where u can relax, unwind, and let go of the stresses of the day while learning and practicing yoga under qualified authorized teachers.

It’s a fresh, spacious, Indian inspired yoga space where you can move, breathe and let your inner self glow.


Ashatnga yoga is a system of hatha yoga taught by the late legendary Guru Sri.K.Pattahbi Jois of Mysore, India.
It is a flowing practice that involves synchronising breath and movements through a series of yoga postures. This produces internal heat and purifying sweat that detoxifies the body its muscles and organs.
It is a powerful meditation in motion that while physically challenging produces a deep inner focus. When practiced regularly & with patience, the result is a light, toned strong body, increased vitality, inner peace, and a calm mind.

Mysore philosophy
Pace yourself, own your practice
Ashtanga Yoga method is built around the ‘Mysore Style’ as taught by Pattabhi Jois, in Mysore, India, and continues to be taught this way in yoga schools around the world. In Mysore Class, the student is taught a sequence of postures through one-on-one instructions. Students are able to practice independently and at their own pace while surrounded by the energy and inspiration of other students in the room. The teacher works with each student individually.

Mysore is often misunderstood as a class only for advanced students. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The safest and best way to learn Ashtanga yoga is within a Mysore setting.

To establish a stable foundation in both the body and the mind, the Ashtanga sequence should be learned gradually and increased slowly over time while paying close attention to breathing, posture, movement, and gazing. Learning gradually allows time to adjust as you develop more strength, flexibility, and familiarity with the practice.


With the Mysore program, the foundation of the yoga programs of the Shala, Guided & Led classes are also offered. Qualified teachers will lead you and take you on a joy ride to discover your greatest potential. Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Hatha yoga classes are available. Whether you prefer to own your practice, or be guided through a yoga sequence, yoga finds a way to improve your life & lifestyle.

Qualified teachers:

Iman Elsherbiny, our main teacher and co founder of The Shala is the first authorized teacher in Egypt to teach this method of Ashtanga Yoga. Authorised by her teacher Sharath of KPJAYI, grand son of Yoga Guru Pattahbi Jois, she runs our Mysore program, led classes as well as most of our events.
