What is TED?
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. TED began in 1984 as a conference in California where Technology, Entertainment and Design converged, and today covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. TED mission is "Spread ideas", Ideas worth spreading.

What is TEDx?
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading." It supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community.

At TEDx event live speakers and TED-like talks that is previously recorded at TED conferences are shared with the community.
The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program but it's self-organized.
