Solar energy in one form or another is the source of nearly all energy on the earth. Humans, like all other animals and plants, rely on the sun for warmth and food. However, people also harness the sun's energy in many other different ways. Many industrialized nations have installed significant solar power capacity into their grids to supplement or provide an alternative to conventional energy sources while an increasing number of less developed nations have turned to solar to reduce dependence on expensive imported fuels. Long distance transmission allows remote renewable energy resources to displace fossil fuel consumption.
Our book includes a lot of electrical engineering branches among its chapters such as Renewable energy especially Solar Energy and wind Energy and their applications, Power Electronics, solar system sizing, home automation for energy saving, electrical cable design, Electrical Protection, Water desalination and Solar Powered Center Pivot Systems.
The practical part includes Off-Grid solar system to light auditorium K3 (46 Compact Florescent Lamps) at Electrical Engineering Building, Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, Egypt. The system also can be used as UPS system during night time.
The practical part includes also smart home energy management technique based on a set of sensors is presented. It minimizes the domestic energy waste and can be adapted according to the user habits. A proposed scenario is reported of daily routine and performed by 16 steps.
