Kareem is a 22 years old young man with autism, and he has gone through a long journey of self-discovery and development to achieve his dream of being independent and have a successful business.
Here is KAREEM’S OWN STORY behind "Kareem's Awesome World."
"My name is Kareem, a young adult with high functioning autism, and I have learned that we are all different. I came to witness this first hand when I traveled to China, as part of the Egyptian team, for the Global Youth Summit at the Special Olympics back in 2007. Autism has its beauty and its challenges. On the lifelong journey of self-discovery, I have had a better understanding of my special abilities, strengths, and challenges that come with autism. I have also learned to develop many skills related to culture, independence, and self-advocacy. My pursuit of self-advocacy and personal freedom is what led me to start my college education hoping for a bright and successful future.
My biggest dream was to start MY OWN BUSINESS, Kareem’s Awesome World. I wanted to open my own business to gain INDEPENDENCE, and earn money. I also want MY CUSTOMERS to be HAPPY.
In the beginning, I wanted to sell entertainment products, but as it was difficult to import the products, I decided to make the customers enjoy the entertainment products and comics at Kareem’s Awesome World.
