Arcade Gallery 3.84

The gallery was established to promote different contemporary art disciplines, and value adding cultural projects, offering its small but cozy place for temporary exhibitions, allowing the encounter of different energies and visions of different artists, through presenting them to the public, with the purpose of participating in the development of the society.

Arcade art gallery is located in Maadi in a beautiful villa with an artistic nature, the villa hosts an art school, a book store specialized in art, and the office of the well-known Islamic architect Dr. Omar El Farouk (Arcade), and from which the name of the gallery was derived, matching with the beautiful design of the villa and its arcs.

The gallery exhibits various art disciplines such as painting, sculpture, photography and installation, promoting contemporary ways of expression of emerging artists, as well as more established ones.


Founders

Amira Sobeh Elagroudi: after graduating she pursued her career in the corporate world for about 17 years, in Egypt, Spain and Italy, where she also continued her studies in different management areas obtaining a Masters degree in management, postgraduate studies in financing as well as other studies and diplomas related to the corporate management field. During her travels, she developed a love for art while visiting the museums, and different art venues around Europe, the US and Latin America. It was only after her encounter with her partner Layla that they decided to materialize this passion through opening their own gallery.

Layla Omar El Farouk: born and raised with a strong art surrounding, El Farouk has always been involved and appreciated art. Following her graduation from the faculty of Fine Arts in 2006, she participated in many group exhibitions such as Salon of the youth, The Popular Show exhibition in Town House, Artist Exhibition in Art Café, Joint student exhibition in Fine Arts gallery, she is also the owner and founder of the art center (Place Des Arts), December 2016.


The exhibitions

The gallery schedules around the year contemporary art exhibitions for the duration of about a month each, and an exhibition for pioneer’s works dedicated to art collectors once per year.

Arcade presents in parallel other activities such as talks with the artists to explain and go deeper in the understanding of their artwork and their views regarding art, their interaction with the social scene, as well as sharing their own experiences through their career with the audience.
