Who we are ??

Adam International Hospital,

Established in 1993 and our first ICSI, andrological procedure case were performed in 1994.

The hospital was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Ali Abd Elfattah “minister of health” and a number of experts in this field “Prof. Dr. Sieger (USA) and Prof. Dr. Arffice (France)” in 1995.
In 1996, we had been the first hospital in Egypt, specialized in this field, to help a paraplegic man, not to have only a child, but a twin; using a new technique (that time) which is the electroejaculation.
We were the first hospital in Egypt carrying out both “semen freezing “ since 1996 and “embryos' freezing” in 1998.
In 1997, we applied “NFI stain technique” for confirming the presence of sperm in semen “in cases of sever oligospermia”, which couldn’t be recognized by the ordinary semen examination, and we were the first hospital applying this in Egypt and Middle East.
In 1998: delivery of the first girl; the first succeeded trial in Egypt after using a frozen, electroejaculated sperms from a disabled man “this technique is suitable for cases who are injured in accidents, wars, and specially if they have spinal cord injury”.
Was applying the recommendations and rules of WHO 99 for evaluation of semen fertility and its fertilization capability in 1999.
We are the first hospital in Egypt and Middle East used the surgical microscope for sperm retrieval from the testes; raising the success rate of sperm retrieval rather than the traditional testicular biopsy.
National, regional and international journals wrote about our success, which has been achieved by a highly skilled qualified staff, as we succeeded to extract sperms from a man suffering from “Klienfelter Syndrome” and azoospermia, using special enzymes, chemicals and advanced surgical microscopes; resulted in a successful delivery of the child “Noura” that’s in 2000. It’s considered as the first successful trial –for such cases- in the Arabian world and the sixth one worldwide after other five cases in USA, Belgium and Israel.

In 2001, we had one important research which was published in the most famous specialized international journal “Human Reproduction”, was about the development in using the “MGG stain” for studying semen cytology in difficult infertility cases, suffering azoospermia, by this stain we could expect the presence of sperms before doing testicular biopsy by ratio of 83.7%; that’s the most sensitivity % had been achieved that time. In the same year; we completed the publication of seven researches in regional and international journals about male infertility.

In 2002, wife got pregnant using ART by husband’s sperm with round-head sperm defect, lacking acrosome "Globozoospermia", which is considered as one of the most difficult male infertility cases with rare chance of pregnancy. That’s the 4th case all over the world who got pregnant suffering such defect.

We were the first hospital in Egypt and Middle East specialized in IVF accredited by the certificate ISO 9001:2000 in 2003 and we are certified till now by the most recent edition of the certificate ISO 9001:2008.

In 2004, Prof. Dr. Medhat Amer was elected as the chief president of the directors’ board for the international association “Mediterranean Andrology society”.

In 2008, we reached pregnancy success rate 58%.

In 2009, a new branch of Adam International Hospital was opened abroad in KSA “Jeddah” following our policies with the same quality.

Advanced techniques & services performed in our hospital:

Laser Assisted hatching (AH):
This technique is used to decrease the thickness of zona pellucida of the embryo; facilitating the embryo implantation in the endometrium, thus increasing the success rate of pregnancy. This technique is usually used in cases of:
Wife older than 37 years
Thick zona pellucida
Recurrent failed implantation
Frozen embryo transfer
Poor responders

Intracytoplasmic Morphologically selected Sperm Injection (IMSI)
Usually ICSI is performed by the help of magnification power 400 times, in 2006 we used a magnification power 6000 times, and that’s useful for:
Providing better selection of the sperm used for ovum injection
Almost, as per many papers, it increases the pregnancy chance and lowers miscarriage rates.

Vitrification freezing technique:
This technique was implemented in 2010
It provides more protection for frozen embryos, thus, increases the pregnancy success rate to be mostly equal to, and sometimes more than, the fresh embryo transfer.

Blastocyst transfer:
It’s found that the embryo transfer is better to be in the 5th day post the ovum pick-up; that’s for:
Better embryonic genome expression
Is the most convenient day for embryo transfer for achieving the hieghest implantation rate “which’s similar to that of natural pregnancy”
Can select only one or two best embryo / embryos to be transferred, decreasing the probability of triplet pregnancy or quadrate rates which mostly lead to miscarriage, premature delivery, or even perinatal and neonatal death.
Increasing the chance for freezing excess embryos which increases the cumulative pregnancy rates.
But blastocyst transfer isn’t suitable for all cases as it depends on the number of fertilized Oocytes and number of embryos on day 3.

Pre-implantation genetic Diagnosis "PGD", Pre-implantation genetic screening "PGS"
This can be done for diagnosing some genetic and chromosomal diseases in embryos and sometimes for sex selection.
In this technique a single cell is taken from each embryo for diagnosing some genetic diseases for example:
Sex linked genetic diseases
Also for some chromosomal diseases as Aneuploidy and Triploidy
It was found that this technique has neither direct harm on the embryo nor on its implantation rate.

Applying the recommendations and rules of WHO 2010 in semen parameters.

Hysteroscopy:
A new service was added in our hospital, for achieving integrated and comprehensive services in the same place, carried out by highly qualified and specialized gynecologists since 2011.
Time lapse incubators:
Equipping our IVF laboratory in 2014 by the most recent medical service in IVF field is the most recent projection in our hospital. These incubators are used for observing embryos and their cellular division 24 hours daily, for better embryos selection, without opening the incubator, avoiding any detrimental effects and risks which can happen by multiple checks and opening the incubators many times.
