Roskilde Domkirke er opført imellem 1170-1280. Kirken ligger på det sted hvor Harald Blåtand omkring 980 opførte den første kirke af træ i Roskilde. Byggeriet af den nuværende domkirke blev sat igang af biskop Absalon. I kirken er tre af vikingetidens konger begravet: Harald Blåtand (d. 986), Svend Tveskæg (d. 1014) og Svend Estridsen (d. 1074). I 1413 blev domkirken igen kongelig gravkirke da Margrete 1. blev begravet. Ialt ligger 40 konger og Dronninger begravet i Roskilde Domkirke. Siden 1995 har Domkirken været UNESCO Verdensarvssted.

Roskilde Cathedral was built 1170 -1280. The cathedral is located on the spot where Harold Bluetooth around 980 built the first wooden church in Roskilde. The construction of the present cathedral was begun by bishop Absalon. In the church lies three of Denmark's viking kings: Harold Bluetooth (d. 986), Swein Forkbeard (1014) and Swein Estridsen (1074). In 1413 the cathedral once again became royal burial church. 40 kings and queens are buried at Roskilde Cathedral. Since 1995 the Cathedral has been a UNESCO world heritage site.
