Mini Contact Improvisation Festival

Dear everybody!

JOIN AN INTENSE CI MINI FESTIVAL in really nice surroundings with the dance form contact- improvisation. Two days where you can explore, get inspired, share and develop your dance. It´s a Mini-Festival for those who has been doing it for ages and for beginners.

THIS IS WHAT YOU GET:
• class and a nice jam friday evening with fantastic musicians.Workshops saturday and sunday, and of course a BIG jam saturday evening.
• Organic food
• Accomodation. You can also bring a tent
• An opportunity to be with a lot of really nice people…who also wants to dance☺

Make sure you had a good lunch. Everybody, please bring some snack (something speciel from your country that you want to share:-) we will enjoy the snack later on Friday evening☺

The live music is performed by amazing musicians from DK and Burkina Faso.

PERCEPTION & ACTION

“the mind comes into play
and is drawn by the organs of perception
towards the organs of action”

On this festival we aim to blend perception and action. Using c-curves, spirals, and the small dance we will investigate action and perception in the solo. We will look at in the duet through triads such as roll/pivot/slide and center/floor/partner. Action and perception within the ensemble will be studied by looking at the location, the duration and the operation of contact. By consciously training these themes in the solo, duet, and ensemble states, we achieve a greater understanding of the moment allowing us to dive deeply into the unknown.

ABOUT ANDREW WASS

By experimenting with aleatoric processes, Andrew Wass finds that movement reveals an inherent awkwardness, a humor that echoes our own vulnerabilities. He formalizes the coincidental and emphasizes the conscious processes of composition that are the generative source of much of his works. Influenced heavily by his undergraduate studies of Biochemistry at U.C. San Diego, Andrew works by creating a defined, almost crystalline palette in order to generate a myriad of possibilities. The possibilities are reduced and concentrated in the moments of execution and reception.

He has performed in work by Nancy Stark Smith, Scott Wells, Jess Curtis, Nina Martin, among others. He has taught at festivals and universities in Japan, Germany, and throughout the United States.

A member of the performance groups Non Fiction and Lower Left he is a recent graduate of the MA program of Solo/Dance/Authorship at the Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum für Tanz in Berlin.

The program can change!!!

When the class at Sunday is finish 15.30, we will gather and say goodbye and then we will help each other to make the place nice again☺

THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO BRING:
• Sleeping-bag and mat (ear plucks is always a good idea)
• Tableware: fork, knife, spoon, a bowl and 2 plates, a cup.
• Tea cloth (dishcloth)
• Towel
• It´s recommended to bring enough clothes to dance in so you have the possibility to change several times during the festival.

• You are more than welcome to bring your own instrument and join the “band”.


THE PLACE AND HOW TO GET THERE:

Høje-Taastrup Gymnasium
Frøgård Alle 2, 2630 Taastrup.

There is a lot of trains that goes to Høje Taastrup, here is some options from Copenhagen main station:
IC, RE, ICL trains: Århus st., Odense St., Lejre St., Nykøbing F. St., Aalborg St. (it can take from 12 min. to 20 min.)
Then there is the S-train B Høje Taastrup (It takes about 30 min,)

Get off at Høje Taastrup Station, then you walk about 500 meter (8 min.). If you get lost…ask, everybody knows where the Høje-Taastrup Gymnasium is.

Sidste gang røg pladserne hurtigt...så hvis du vil være sikker på en plads, så meld dig på nu:-)

Minifestival med kontaktimprovisation i skønne omgivelser på Høje Taastrup Idræts Gymnasium. Tre dage hvor du får muligheden for at lade dig inspirere, dele viden, udforske og udvikle din dans. Det er en Mini-Festival for dem der har danset hele livet og for dem der lige er begyndt.

ALT DETTE FÅR DU
• Klasse og Jam fredag aften.Workshops med skønne ci-undervisere lørdag og søndag, og så er der også jam lørdag aften med vidunderlige musikere.
• økologisk mad
• Kaffe/the
• Et godt sted at sove. Der er også mulighed for at slå eget telt op.
• En mulighed for at være sammen med en masse dejlige mennesker…der også vil danse☺


Når undervisningen er slut søndag kl. 15.30, er der fælles afslutning og oprydning.

DU SKAL MEDBRINGE
• Sovepose og underlag (ørepropper er altid en god ide!)
• Service: eget bestik, tallerken,(dyb og flad), ekstra anretnings-tallerken til søndags brunchen tallerken til, kop
• Det anbefales at du tager tøj med du kan bevæge dig frit i, og gerne rigeligt ,så du har mulighed for at skifte flere gange under festivalen (der kan ofte opstå sved på overlæben☺)

• Du er mere end velkommen til at medbringe eget instrument.
