The museum was opened by the private initiative of Harald Fuglsang and John Anderson 15 May 1981 in an old converted farmhouse. Kirsten was born in the nearby village of Vester Thorup, and spent her last summers in the neighbouring farmhouse. Since its modest start, the museum complex has developed into an art center, with workshop facilities for metal, bronze casting, ceramics, and graphics. Classical concerts form part of the museum’s activities, including a yearly classical chamber music “jamboree” in week 30 with 12-16 participants.
