spin-off company in 2005.
FSDS supplies a range of engineering services to the space industry including structural
analysis, structural parts, electrical supply harnesses and Machine Ground Support Equipment.
The Company also manufactures and supplies state-of-the-art, hi-tech products to branches
of the defence and space industry worldwide. FSDS is heavily involved in both national and
international research and development projects which ensures the products and services suppled
to customers is always on the cutting edge of technology. FSDS has an unprecedented
reputation in the market and our products have proved to be superior to our competitors not

FALCK SCHMIDT Defence Systems Space
(FSDS Space), headquartered in Odense,
Denmark, designs manufactures and tests
composite based structures employed for
satellites and space vehicles. Carbon fiber
based composites are manufactured at our
in-house filament winding facility. The composite
structures are fabricated at concerns
composite factory in Fredericia, Denmark.
The fabrication processes are filament winding,
hand lay-up and adhesive bonding and
the finished products are extremely consistent
within narrow mechanical and thermal
tolerances.
ESA ECSS standards based FSDS Space
quality control system is ISO 9001 certified.
The quality control system encompass
companies immense in-house test facilities
as: ultrasonic screening, mechanical tests,
environmental tests, high velocity strain test
(Split-Hopkinson) , Izod impact test, microstructure
void test etc. The dimensional tolerances
are inspected by means of electronic
3D measuring equipment.
FSDS Space has references with a wide
range of space missions, some of them being:
Ariane 5, The James Web Space Telescope,
Rosetta, Solar Orbiter, JUICE and a number
of US and Middle East space missions.
Currently FSDS Space is involved in several
space-related development projects for the
European and US Space programs where
the goal is to replace traditional composite
structures with structures manufactured
using state-of-the art technologies, especially
replacement heavy metallic components
with composites.
