Details

Bioflight is an Aerial Survey Organization working with an Aerial Work Certificate issued by the Danish Civil Aviation Authorities.
We have specialized in offshore bird/mammal survey flight's and have more than 5 years experience in planning and conducting aerial survey missions.

The cornerstones of Bioflight A/S

- Safety, is on top of the list since everything depends on this!
For the safety of observers and flight-crew we carry all the equipment that is required to ensure the best chances of survival in case of ditching.
This includes life-raft, life-vests, ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter), and in remote areas we also bring food rations.
All aircrafts are equipped with "SpiderTracks", which is a live tracking device that allows operators to monitor the progress of the flight and flight data is stored for later documentation.
All aircraft are "PowerFlam" equipped.
"PowerFlam" is a unit that supply the pilot with information regarding other traffic and is a very good supplement for visual traffic separation.
Flight-crew are wearing survival suites if water temperatures are below 13 degree Celsius, and we always encourage observers to do the same.

- Effectivity, is important when operating aircrafts, since the old saying "time is money" is easily applied to this matter.
A mission with a high rate of effectivity can be accomplished in many ways but prober planning is one of the most important issues.
Since offshore missions are often extremely dependent on low wind conditions, weather interpretation is one of the more important things to consider when planning a mission.
All BioFlight flight-crew have experience with offshore weather conditions and are trained to interpret wind and visibility offshore.
BioFlight aircrafts and flight-crew are all approved for IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) so missions can still be completed even if weather on shore is not suitable for VFR (Visual Flight Rules).

- Accuracy, is important in all scientific matters also when it comes to determine the distribution of wildlife or creating data for mapping.
When we receive feedback from our clients, one of the most common things to be complemented is BioFlight pilots ability to maintain track and altitude.
We are very aware, that good data acquisition is the cornerstone of a good final report.
Experience shows that two missions are never alike and wildlife is somehow unpredictable, so as a consequence we always do our best to adapt to new situations taking into account that "thinking out of the box" is sometimes required to avoid scaring the wildlife and bringing down double counting bias.

BioFlight aircrafts
Bioflight operates two Partenavia/Vulcan Observer fitted with transparent nosecone and bubble windows for optimum visibility.
Both aircrafts are fitted with 137 gallon tanks and has en endurance at 8-10 hrs depending on the mission.
BioFlight aircrafts is situated in Copenhagen Airport, Roskilde (EKRK)

OY-ILS is our new aircraft, build in June 2012 at Vulcan air, Italy.
The aircraft is equipped with the latest avionics and navigation systems. (Garmin G1000 glass cockpit)

OY-SUR is our multi purpose aircraft since it also is equipped with a large formate Camera hatch which makes it suitable for Digital Imaging Surveys.
The aircraft is build in 1981 at the former Partenavia factory in Italy.
