We celebrate cultural difference!

++++++

The program of the Werkstatt der Kulturen focuses on cultural diversity. The topics addressed in the variety of music, dance and film events include transcultural experiences and arts and action among migrants and minorities.

The Festivals of the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN

The major festivals of the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN have developed a reputation well beyond Berlin. This applies especially to the popular Karneval der Kulturen (Carnival of Cultures), held across Kreuzberg each year on Pentecost weekend. The centre is also known for creole, its nationwide world music competition, its celebration of Black History Month and the Sacred Music & Dance Festival.

Event series
Regular series of events keep the WERKSTATT DER KULTUREN busy year round, including "WorldWideCinema", which shows films in their original versions, the WorldWideMusic series offering Asian Sounds, Orient Beats, Pan-African Heritage, Out of Europe and Musica Latina and NAKED JAZZ with performances by Berlin jazz bands. Plenty of other concerts, discussion evenings, dance and theatre performances, workshops and cultural days make for a rich programme of events.

The institution was founded in 1993. The former brewery has a large auditorium with a stage, several seminar rooms and a club. Daily specials, snacks and drinks are offered by the restaurant on the ground floor, which tumbles out-of-doors in season into the cosy beer garden. The house is barrier-free and accessible.

Accessibility
The house is accessible via lift by request; a ramp in the garden leads into the building in summer. A disabled toilet is available.
